M ay 1 99 9 Study of the one - dimensional off - lattice hot - monomer reaction model

چکیده

Hot monomers are particles having a transient mobility (a ballistic fly) before absorbing definitely on a surface. After arriving on a surface, the energy excess coming from the kinetic energy in the gas phase is dissipated through degrees of freedom parallel to the surface plane. In the present work we study the hot monomer-monomer adsorption-reaction process on a continuum (offlattice) one-dimensional space by means of Monte Carlo simulation. The system exhibits second-order irreversible phase transition between a reactive and saturated (absorbing) phases which belong to the directed percolation (DP) universality class. This result is interpreted by means of a coarse-grained Langevin description which allows as to extend the DP conjecture to transitions occurring in continuous media. 05.70.Ln, 82.20.Mj, 82.65.Jv, 64.60.Ht Typeset using REVTEX

It is shown that the four dimensional antiferromagnetic lattice φ4 model has the usual non-asymptotically free scaling law in the UV regime around the chiral symmetrical critical point. We make for the first time a large-scale Monte-Carlo simulation of a fer-romagnetic Heisenberg model with dipolar interactions on a two dimensional square lattice with open boundaries using an efficient new technique. We find that a phase transition occurs in the model and the ordered phase is characterized by a circular arrangement of the spins.
